Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Ünal

Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Ünal is a distinguished specialist in Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, with extensive academic and clinical experience. He was born on September 1, 1966, in Yerköy, Turkey.

He completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and subsequently pursued residency training in Otorhinolaryngology at the same institution. Following his residency, he continued his academic career at Hacettepe University, advancing from fellow to assistant professor, associate professor, and later full professor. He also served as a visiting professor in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital between 2003 and 2004.

Prof. Ünal held the position of Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Acıbadem University from 2009 to 2015. He is currently a Professor at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology.

His clinical and research interests include pediatric otolaryngology—particularly airway reconstruction and congenital ear anomalies—as well as head and neck cancer treatment and craniomaxillofacial surgery.

He is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Turkish Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the European Rhinologic Society, the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO), AO CMF, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He also serves as Treasurer of the executive committee of the Turkish Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.
